About Fairfield

Founded in 1826 and located in Camby, Indiana, near Indianapolis International Airport, Fairfield Friends Meeting is a theologically diverse Quaker community affiliated with Western Yearly Meeting (FUM). While approximately 65 people worship in person each week, with another 25 joining by Zoom, the broader Fairfield Friends community consists of approximately 300 to 350 people. We recognize the light in every person, welcome all, and seek to serve our community and the wider world without prejudice.

Who We Are Seeking

We seek a pastor with a theology grounded in the Light within; preferably well versed in Quaker history, beliefs, practices, customs, quirks, and possibilities (or with a demonstrated willingness to learn); and committed to respecting and encouraging the ministry of all members and attenders. Seminary education or training is preferred. The successful candidate will be collaborative, welcoming, creative, and interested in helping Fairfield deepen engagement, strengthen its ministries, and attract new people.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver three or four Sunday messages each month and help lead hybrid worship for in-person and Zoom participants.

• Provide visitation and pastoral care, including weddings, memorial services and funerals, baby dedications, and other special occasions.

• Participate regularly in Ministry and Counsel and the Monthly Meeting for Business, working collaboratively within Fairfield’s shared leadership and committee structure.

• Encourage ministries and outreach within and beyond the Meetinghouse, and communicate thoughtfully and responsibly in public settings, including on social media.

Compensation and Application

Compensation is negotiable based on qualifications and will include a parsonage allowance. Fairfield Friends Meeting encourages applications from people of every race, sexual orientation, and gender.
